I've been thinking a lot lately about making the switch to a Mac. Well after a recent "whoops, what the heck just happened", which infected this machine with 174 pieces of crapware, spyware, and the like, this beast is running slow. It's even annoying my lovely bride. So I brought up the "I want a Mac" concept again with my wife yesterday and after a "why would we want to spend $x on 'a toy'" discussion, I think she is interested in giving it a try too.

The conversation basically centered around need vs. want and, of course, Windows vs. Mac. What can't you do on a Mac? Why is it so much more expensive than any random laptop in any Best Buy or WalMart? How is it that a Mac doesn't get viruses or spyware?

Well, we mulled it over and made a call to a local super store that does those "no interest for 18 months" deals about once a month. Unfortunately for my timing, they weren't doing one of those deal things this week....but I'll be keeping my eye out.

So anyway, we went to dinner last night and mulled it over a little more. After dinner, my wife took my 4-year-old to a new super duper make-up store that just opened and me and Fat Baby walked up to the Apple store...my first official visit. I was blown away...freaking beautiful...every piece of hardware in that store was beautiful. I was really, really drawn to the iMacs, mostly for their big screens, but I think if I do bite the bullet, I am only going to be able to afford a standard, bottom line Macbook. Even putting a couple hundred down and financing the rest, I'm going to have to cut back on trips to Burger King and go back to Natural Light instead of the new Bud Lime (which is freaking outstanding).

So the hope is, within the next few weeks that local mega store will do an 18-month no interest deal, I can get myself a Macbook and pay it off $40/month for a year and a half, and finally have a Mac.

I was thinking of doing a video podcast to document the adventure, the switch, and happenings in switcher-dom, but no promises.

Anyway, it's nice to talk to everyone again. I need to blog more. Audio podcasts are just out of the picture for now, the near future, and potentially the long-term future....Maybe it's time to move on to some other fun projects. We'll see.
